Questions

How does solar activity relate to climate changes?

Does anyone have any info, preferably a link to organizations that measure solar output/sunspot activity/etc., which relates to the temperature of the earth for as long as such things have been tracked? I’m looking for scientific data and correlations. Thanks in advance.

This is a pretty good summation…

I purchased these last summer and everyone that comes over just goes crazy over them. They even light up during the winter with snow piled up around them, although not for as long of a time because it doesn’t get enough solar in the winter. Very subtle addition to your garden and landscaping.

I bought one of these dragonfly lights for my front yard. I placed the post in the ground among some flowering shrubs, with the solar collector panel just above the leaves. At night, the stake seems to disappear and it looks like the dragonfly is hovering above the shrubs. It is really lovely. Passersby–evening neighborhood walkers–have actually commented on how nice it looks. I confess that I have actually sat on my front step and enjoyed the display of the color-changing light.

I am buying two more for my yard, and it’s likely that I’ll buy more for Christmas presents.

One caveat that I will add: my Deep South Texas front yard gets a LOT of direct sunlight from about noon to 7 p.m. I don’t know if this is a requirement for the splendid performance that I’ve received from this dragonfly light, but the amount of direct sunlight should be a consideration when ordering these. As long as you have a very sunny area where you’ll place the light, I’m sure you will be as satisfied as I am.

I’m pleased with the product & it looks greqat at night but by day it just looks like cheap plastic although it’s not.

This was my first purchase of anything ‘solar’ for my garden. The other reviews sounded great so I puchased two of them. I put them out and thought that maybe they weren’t getting enough light because they didn’t come on. ‘Then’ I read the instructions about there being an ‘on/off’ button underneath! Well I flipped that switch and they were gorgeous!!! I find myself just mesmerized by them every night! They’re very pretty and work wonderfully! :)

My mother told me this is very vibrant and cute, I wish I could see it myself, but i live far away. I want one for myself!! Was a mothers day gift.

Here are a number of them.

David Archibald appears to be more accurate in prediciton over time, but no one that is much worth listening to is ready to predict much beyond a soalr cycle or two.

World is cooling. Sea ice is expanding. Many good sites referenced.

This link goes to a number of technical documents data etc detailing the correlation and likely causation between solar activity and the earths climate patterns.

This report was presented at the International Conference on Climate Change. It is a detailed look at the solar cycle, its correlation to global climate patterns and predicts fairly dramatic cooling over the next decade.

This link is from some researchers at the University of Wisconsin who have made the first mathematical model that can predict with reasonable accuracy, climate trends. Based on their model, they show that Climate change is almost entirely natural. If you read the article you might get as I did, the impression that the scientists were surprised to learn that man has so little effect.

NASA came out with this article. When you read it, they point out the low values in a number of measurements in 50+ years. What they do not spell out with the same clarity is that these are all time lows and we have only been capable of measuring those items for the past 50 or so years. Not a lie or necessarily even deception as we are not able to accurately say what those values were even 60 years ago.

This site is run by NASA. They today added a new feature telling us how many spotless days there are in this current minimum. We are now somewhat higher than their stated average. What they don’t say is that since the minimum is still slowing, or getting deeper, there is a high probability that the spotless days number could double for this minimum. (Just about as many getting out as there were getting in)
